POLICY FOR USE OF CORINTH TOWN HALL
THE PURPOSE OF THIS POLICY IS TO CLARIFY THE CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH THE TOWN HALL MAY BE USED.
The hall is a light, friendly, open place which should serve the community in diverse ways. The town hall is available to residents of the community or private activities provided no official or scheduled meeting is taking place in the same room.
DEFINITIONS:
NON-PROFIT OR NOT-FOR-PROFIT shall mean:
The Corinth Historical Society, Girl or Boy Scouts, 4-H Clubs, Cookeville Cloggers, singing groups, exercise classes, quilting, etc.
COMMUNITY EVENTS:
Those events where the general public is invited and where there is no admission charge, i.e.: Act 250 hearings, public hearings, informational meetings, community art shows, funeral receptions, etc.
PRIVATE PARTIES:
Shall mean any event where the general public is not invited and/or where there is an admission charge, i.e. – wedding receptions, birthday parties and dinners.
TOWN HALL:
Shall mean any part of the first floor, except the Town Clerk’s office and Lister’s office.
FOR FIRE SAFETY AND HEALTH REASONS THERE WILL BE NO SMOKING IN ANY PART OF THE BUILDING AT ANY TIME.
1. Rent for the Town Hall, including kitchen, shall be $40.00 per day or evening for Corinth residents and a $50.00 refundable security will be required. Rental for non-residents shall be $80.00 per day or evening and a $100.00 refundable security deposit will be required. The rent and security deposit is required at the time of reservation.
Rental fee will be returned if cancellation notice is received seven days prior to the event. The security deposit will be refunded in full providing the hall and equipment are left in the proper manner. The renter, together a representative of the Town, should inspect the town Hall both before and after the event to determine any damages.
2. There shall be no charge for non-profit groups or for community events. Donations are encouraged to cover maintenance costs. Unless scheduling does not permit, persons using the building may set up the day or evening before and may clean the day after the event.
3. The Town reserved the right to require a peace officer present at the expense of the sponsor.
4. The renter must furnish the Town with evidence of comprehensive personal liability coverage in the amount of $300,000, preferably naming the Town of Corinth as second insured. This can be part of the renters/ homeowners insurance or a separate event policy.
5. Clean-up after the event must include the following:
a. All dishes, utensils, pots, pans and coffee makers shall be washed, dried and returned to original location.
b. Bathrooms will be swept and mopped. Toilets and sinks will be cleaned. Wastebaskets will be emptied.
c. All floors will be swept and mopped.
d. All trash shall be removed.
e. All food will be removed from premises.
f. All furniture shall be returned to its original location.
g. All decorations and adhesive tape will be removed.
h. All lights will be turned off and heat will be set at 65 degrees.
i. All windows will be closed
j. The key will be returned to the Town representative by the day following the event or at a time mutually agreed with the Town representative.
k. NO SMOKING is allowed in the Town Hall.
6. To rent the Hall, call the Town Clerk’s office. They will direct you to the person who is currently in charge of renting the hall.
7. All events must be over by 11:30 p.m.
This policy shall be effective on June 1, 2005.
